Recently I had the privilege of attending a Women's Retreat with the lovely women of West End Ministries. Although it was last minute, it was a tremendous blessing. I had just completed the process of publishing my first book, and it was fine time to get away and enjoy the company of my Godmother and the ladies from the church. Also it was good to spend time with my godbrother as well.
So I arrived at my destination outside of San Antonio with my godmother and I remember shaking my head and laughing after reading the theme on the t-shirt we were given. The t-shirt stated: "Spiritual Makeover: Rediscovering The Beauty of Holiness." Now, you may think that's churchy and not continue reading but bare with me.
I had just completed my book that dealt with singleness and living purely. In other words, single and living holy. The group wasn't large and the age range varied, but it was definitely a place of confirmation, affirmation, and fellowship. A LOT of times as young believers of Christ we tend to shun the teachings of what we call "the mothers" of the church, but I THANK GOD every chance I get to spend in the presence of those who have been here longer than I have. Now, are they right about everything? No. Am I right about everything? No. BUT there is a GOD who is right, and holy and pure life is what's right in His eyes. I count every moment a blessing to hear and learn something from those who have godly wisdom.
Funny thing is, if the world is teaching our young people about SEX and MARRIAGE, where does that leave us as Christians? Where are the teachers who will teach about PURITY, WAITING till MARRIAGE to experience LOVE as GOD intended?
Well, here I am a willing vessel! Years ago, God gave me the book, I have lived through some experiences, and I am living testimony that you CAN live purely! At the end of the day, my story is for God's glory, it's only through and with Him, I am able to live!

So what did I take away from the retreat?
When I think of Holiness, I think of Purity...they are interchangeable...they work together...
-Holiness is beautiful.
-Holiness is helpful.
-Holiness is to help you not hinder you.
-Holiness is YOU living set-apart living according to God's WORD and NOT the WORLD.
-Holiness is uplifting your spirit, not your flesh.
-Holiness is pleasing to God, not pleasing yourself!
